Trading System Software Engineer

Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is looking for experienced Trading Systems Software Engineers to help build the applications, platforms and engineering capabilities supporting our global trading environment.This is a broad engineering role spanning application development, distributed systems, cloud technology, deployment automation and production engineering. You will build software used by traders, quantitative researchers, operations teams and engineers across the firm.The role goes beyond delivering individual features. You will identify opportunities to create scalable, reusable capabilities that improve how trading systems are developed, deployed, monitored and operated across multiple teams and trading desks. We have an opening in Hong Kong as well as Sydney.What you’ll do:Build production-grade applications, services and APIs supporting QRT’s trading platform.Design scalable distributed and event-driven systems.Develop shared platforms and tools that can be adopted across multiple teams.Create deployment automation, release tooling and self-service engineering capabilities.Build cloud-native services and automated workflows using technologies such as AWS and Apache Airflow.Partner directly with traders, researchers and operations teams to solve practical business problems.Design observable, resilient systems for latency-sensitive production environments.Own software throughout its lifecycle, from initial design through to production support and continuous improvement.What we’re looking for:At least five years of experience developing and supporting production-grade software.Strong programming ability in one or more languages such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js or C++.Experience building scalable applications, APIs, distributed systems or event-driven architectures.Strong software-design fundamentals and sound architectural judgement.Experience with Linux, relational databases and messaging technologies.Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and public cloud technologies, preferably AWS.A strong understanding of reliability, observability, performance and failure recovery.The ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.A pragmatic, collaborative approach and genuine ownership of the systems you build.Experience with workflow orchestration, deployment platforms or electronic trading systems preferred.
