Global Payment Solutions (GPS) is made up of almost 10,000 colleagues across 58 countries and territories. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Director, Head of GNB Sales HK, GPS.
Role PurposeWe are looking for a high calibre Director-level sales leader to drive GPS coverage for our Global Network Banking expanding into Hong Kong and Asia. These clients often leverage Hong Kong as their regional base outside their home market and represent an emerging segment on the treasury maturity curve. This suitable candidate should be an individual who thrives on corridor-based origination, connecting home market relationships with Asia-based expansion ambitions. The ideal candidate will help these clients scale, structure, and mature their treasury operations, guiding them toward best practices while delivering HSBC's comprehensive GPS solutions. This individual will lead a high-performing team to achieve aspirational financial outcomes, thus skills and capabilities to coach, motivate, inspire team are fundamental.
Principal AccountabilitiesKey Mandate for the role
- Lead GPS sales efforts for a portfolio of Global Network Banking clients from large ones with regional headquarters or growth ambitions centered in Asia, especially those using Hong Kong as a strategic hub, to those with smaller ticket sizes and single market needs in Hong Kong.
- Originate new-to-bank opportunities by targeting cross-border corridors, working closely with global relationship bankers and country sales teams to build a cohesive client engagement plan.
- Support clients in evolving their treasury sophistication, offering scalable, modular solutions that can grow with their business needs across the treasury maturity curve.
- Build deep client partnerships by serving as a trusted advisor, delivering market insights, treasury trends, and digital payment strategies aligned with their growth trajectory.
- Partner closely with relationship bankers, product, client management, and implementation teams to ensure seamless onboarding and execution of GPS solutions.
- Help shape the go-to-market strategy for this segment, contributing to our USPs, corridor prioritization, and proposition development tailored to the unique needs of scaling international clients.
- Lead and coordinate complex RFP responses and solution design efforts, especially for clients at key inflection points such as market entry, M&A, or regional expansion.
- Monitor and drive on portfolio growth, sales performance, wallet share expansion, and client satisfaction.
- Represent the bank in external forums, regional client events, and corridor-related initiatives to reinforce our leadership and relevance in this space.
- Significant years of experience in transaction banking, cash management, or payments, with experience in a sales leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading complex, multi-country treasury sales, and corridor-based client origination, especially involving clients investing into Asia from the US, UK, Europe, or other regions.
- Strong understanding of treasury operations and how they evolve as companies expand internationally, including common pain points, enablers, and scalability needs.
- Strong people leadership capabilities, including team coaching, performance management, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders across global, regional, and local teams in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of delivering strategic insights in a clear, client-relevant manner.Commercial mindset with strong execution focus and ability to convert pipeline into results.
- Experience working with emerging multinationals or scaling companies is highly desirable
