Mainframe Storage Systems Programmer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Storage Systems Programmer responsible for the design, installation, configuration, optimization, and support of IBM z/OS storage environments. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, data integrity, and security of enterprise storage systems across complex mainframe infrastructures. Key Responsibilities • Install, configure, and maintain IBM DFSMS components including DFSMSdss, DFHSM, and DFSMSrmm • Manage enterprise storage hardware such as IBM DS8000, TS7700 Virtual Tape Systems, and SAN environments • Configure and maintain SMS constructs, ACS routines, storage groups, and storage policies • Administer tape management systems and virtual tape libraries • Perform system maintenance including PTF application, upgrades, and release migrations • Support disaster recovery (DR) planning, including replication, FlashCopy, and Global Mirror implementations • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, CLIST, ISPF, and JCL • Manage catalog structures (master catalogs, user catalogs) and perform catalog recovery (ICFC) • Monitor and analyze storage performance, utilization, and trends • Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, and optimization activities • Implement and manage RACF security for storage resources • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and adhere to ITIL processes Show More
