Technical Officer - Department of Ocean Science

Job Description

The Department of Ocean Science is looking for a high caliber candidate to fill a Technical Officer position. The appointee will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the daily operation and maintenance of the various equipment and facilities in the OCES. His/her responsibilities include: • Manage the IT network infrastructure, and virtual servers for the department. • Assist in installing, configuring, diagnose and troubleshoot, upgrading and inventory control of software and hardware components of computer and network systems for the department. • Liaise with IT Office to ensure the network security and infrastructure upgrade exercises to uphold cybersecurity standards of the department. • Prepare laboratories for academic courses and research projects, maintain the upkeep of communal equipment and experimental material supplies. • Provide training in the use of experimental equipment and facilities to users and ensure smooth instrumental operations. • Assist in monitoring laboratory safety and access control in compliance with the University's safety regulations and conduct safety training to research staff of the laboratories. • Perform any other duties as assigned by senior management.
